Crystal G. Pittman

Crystal G. Pittman, 51, of New Haven, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 20, 2019. She was born in New Haven, CT on August 15, 1968, the daughter of Maxine Green of New Haven, CT and the late Clifford Freeman, III. She attended New Haven Public Schools and graduated from Grafton Job Corps Center and later pursued her undergraduate at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven CT. . Crystal previously worked at New Haven Job Corps as an Assistant Cook and Catherine Brennan School as Lunch Room Attendant. Then at the Hellen Keller Blind Institute as a Project Assistant and was most recently employed at Allied Healthcare as a Data Analyst Clerk. Crystal was a person of many talents, she had a phenomenal voice and loving spirit. During her spare time, she enjoyed swimming, singing, cooking, spending time at the beach, shopping for deals, and mostly catering to her family mainly her grandchildren. Crystal was a Breast Cancer survivor, she fought a strong and courageous battle. She volunteered and sewed handmade hats and scarves for other Breast Cancer survivors. Crystal was a dedicated member of Christian Training and Healing Center of New Haven for a number of years under the leadership of Apostle Roberta J. Knotts and when the Church merged with Faith Center C.O.G.I.C in Meriden under Bishop and Lady Joseph Norfleet, she faithfully served. She was a member of the Ambassadors of Praise (AOP), where she skillfully used her gifts of singing to encourage many. Later on, Crystal joined Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Frederick Streets where she served faithfully as a member of the Voices of Dixwell Choir, was an active member of the Adult Sunday School and served on the Missionary Board. Crystal leaves to continue her legacy her children; Chrishawn Green, Christopher Green, Keyshawn Green, Kristen Avery and Antoine Pittman all of New Haven, CT; sisters Yvonne Green of Hamden, CT, Sylvia Green of New Haven, CT, Susan Green of Little Rock, AR, Rosella Freeman Price of Chicago, IL and Sharon Tolson of Richmond, VA; brothers Bernard Green and Lamont Green of New Haven, CT, James Green, Clifford G. Freeman IV, Robert Freeman, Raymond Freeman and Clifford Salmond of Des Moines, IA; aunts Mary Gaskin and Patricia Holley; uncle Larry Green, William Green, Richard S. Freeman; grandchildren Keniya White whom she raised, Jeniyla Simuel, Teleyah Green and Ramiya Brown. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a sister Cynthia Green. Crystal was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Most of all a woman of God. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
