Chanel M. Highsmith

Chanel M. Highsmith was born on a bright sunny day a Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT to Connie Y. Highsmith‐Hargrove, Friday, August 18, 1978. She was called home on Sunday, January 30, 2022, the irony as she loved the Lord. From birth, Chanel has always been a social butterfly who always supported and loved on her loved ones. Chanel had a humorous spirit and an infectious personality; she was consistently the life in the room. Chanel had a great love for family, she was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved and adored her children, her Young Bull Trevon L. Highsmith, her Princess Tinaejah L. Highsmith, and her handsome baby boy Ty’Jhaun R. Rogers. Chanel was educated in West Haven and New Haven, CT Public School Systems. She spent her working career serving and helping others as a personal care provider, most recently at Riverview Residential Care Facility. She also was an entrepreneur, she launched Chanel’s Nursing Apparel (CNA) offering stylish scrubs to individuals who worked in similar fields. The fashionista that she was she took immense pride in her appearance, which was the foundation of her business. Chanel had such a giving heart, one‐way she chose to give back to her community was to become a member of Bereavement Care Network, Inc. being inducted in 2019. She also was a faithful member and Usher of Varick Memorial AME Zion Church. Chanel leaves to cherish her memory Mother Connie Y. Highsmith‐Hargrove; Son’s: Trevon L. Highsmith and Ty’Jhaun R. Rogers; Daughter Tinaejah L. Highsmith all of New Haven, CT; Maternal Grandparents Billy (Diane) Highsmith; Uncles: Christopher and Danyon (WyKeishia) Highsmith. Aunts: Tonya Smalls and Caretha (Theron) Holiday; God‐Mother Kimberly Butterfield‐Fisher; the sisters she chose Nakia Dawson‐Douglas, Anitra Payne,and Nateysha Poindexter. Chanel’s memory will also be cherished by Carlton R. White and The White Family because of the special relationship they shared. Chanel leaves an enormous host of relatives, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her life of the party personality. Chanel was predeceased by her Maternal Grand‐Mother Jean Jones‐Highsmith, her Maternal Great Grandparents Eugene and Lizzie Jones as well as her Uncle Jeffrey D. Highsmith. Chanel was loved by many, but God in Heaven loved her best!
