Calvin Hart

Calvin B. Hart, 65, of Middletown, CT, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, June 18, 2022, reuniting with his beloved wife Carolyn (McDaniel) Hart. Calvin was born in Middletown, CT to the late Bert E. and Elouise (Green) Hart. Growing up in Middletown, Calvin attended Middletown public schools, graduating from Middletown High School, Class of 1974. Following high school, Calvin enlisted in the military in 1975, under the Army Airborne division as a paratrooper stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While serving, Sargent Hart married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn. After completing his service, Calvin and his family moved back to Middletown, CT, where he furthered his education, graduating with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Hartford State Technical College in Hartford, CT, now known as Capital Community College. Calvin worked for Pratt & Whitney for approximately 10 years, moving onto Connecticut Light and Power, presently Eversource, for more than 35 years until retiring. Calvin was truly a Man of God and served on many church ministries in the role of Head Deacon, Head Church Treasurer, Evangelism Explosion Outreach Member, Men’s Ministry Member, Sunday School Instructor, Adult Choir Director, and Youth Mentor. Calvin enjoyed cutting his grass, studying, traveling, sports (Mets & Greenbay Packers), fried fish and chicken, singing, spending time with his family, Parliament Funkadelics and many old school classics. He also enjoyed testing his childrens’ and grandchildrens’ knowledge by engaging them in discussions and riddled questions; “Mildew or barbeque?” Most of all, he enjoyed praising, worshiping and serving the Lord. Calvin had a heart for people and shared the good news of Jesus Christ through the Word, aspiring to grow the Body of Christ. He truly wanted all to experience God’s love and to one day, enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Calvin’s memory will be cherished by his three children, Darnell (Tawana) Hart, Ivan (Angel Cote) and Yalonda (Maurice Overton); grandchildren S’Nani, Dajon, Darrence, Josiah, Imani, Dasia, Jerimiah, and Ivan II; brother Thaddeus (Melissa) Hart, sister Selina (Jerome) Anderson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Calvin was predeceased by his brother Emmanuel Hart and sister Mayphine Hart.
