Calvin Collins

Calvin Ravon Collins was born to Charlie Henry and Phoebe Blango Collins on February 19,1946, in Arapahoe, North Carolina. He was one of ten sons who was not spared when it came to hard work. Calvin Ravon Collins was educated in the Pamlico County School System, where he graduated. He was reared in a Christian home and united with the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Arapahoe, North Carolina, at an early age, where he served faithfully. When he got the chance to escape the farm work, Calvin did not hesitate to move to New Haven Connecticut to pursue other gainful employment opportunities. He loved the city life, and he lived it to the fullest. He had a very carefree spirit that would light up a room with his presence. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was also a very adventuresome person who loved to travel and explore different parts of the world. In his travels he met the love of his life. He was united in marriage to the late Patricia Stoughton, and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters who later moved away to make a life of their own. Calvin loved his family dearly and always kept in touch with them. His sister, Shirley Whitney of Arapahoe, was the “Apple of his Eye”. She was like a second mother to him, who he entrusted to help raise his youngest daughter. There were not many days that passed that they did not talk to each other. At the age of 77 on April 6, 2023, Calvin Ravon Collins was called to his eternal resting place at his home. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Patricia Stoughton Collins; his parents Charlie Henry and Phoebe Bango Collins-Randall; sister, Phoebe Lennette Collins; brothers Thomas (Richard), and Wilbert Collins; stepfather Herbert Randall; Stepbrothers Herbert Clinton and Edward Earl Randall. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters Belinda (Shauwn) Rush, Bunnell, FL, and Ravon (Dennis) Bonfiglio, Kissimmee, FL; one sister, Shirley Collins Whitney of Arapahoe, NC; seven brothers Charlie “Jack” Henry ( Cornelius), Felton, DE, Dallas Collins, Boston, MA, James Odell, Clarence (Elder Mary Frances), Ernest (Overseer Annette), and Bishop Eugene Collins, Hamden, CT; Persivia (Nona) Collins , New Haven, CT,; one Step brother Sultan Randall, New Haven, CT; three step sisters Evelyn, Ruth, and Ann Randall, New Haven, CT; six grandkids Alex, Destiny, and Devon Collins, Victoria and Kiera Bonfiglio, all of Kissimmee, FL, and Mara Rush, Bunnell, FL; two great grandkids Alianna and Braylen Collins, Kissimmee, FL; very special cousin/friends of the heart Alphonso (AC) Wright, New Haven, CT and Jessie Miller, Maribel, NC., a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
