Barney Jay (Boot) Williams Sunrise: June 27, 1958 Sunset: May 14, 2026 Old Testament Psalm 34:1&8 New Testament John 14: 1&6 It's in great sadness, I'm here writing another obituary on the loss of my brother Barney, age 67, I learned of his passing through my niece Charisse and his cousin Brownskin Muja. Jay was born and raised in New Haven, CT, and the son of the late Charles Alton and Gladyce LaVon Williams. My brother received his education in the New Haven school system. Earned his high school diploma from Adult Ed. Graduated on June 16, 2016 at Southern Connecticut State University. How excited he was walking with his cap and gown, with pride across the stage to receive his diploma as family members watched in the audience with our full support. My brother Jay, loved R&B and can sang, groups such as Blue Magic, Whispers, Moments, Whatnot. When we was together growing up, the kitchen was our stage, grabbing a spatula or hair brush (lol) they were the mic, we had so much fun. Before Jay's passing, he experienced the heartbreaking loss of his two older brothers, that deeply touched his heart, he lovingly cared for both of his brothers before they passed. Showing the same loyalty, compassion and selflessness that defined his life. Though those losses were difficult, the bond they shared as brothers remained strong and unbreakable. Now reunited with them once again, we find comfort in knowing they are together again in peace. Their memories, laughter and brotherhood will forever live on through our family and loved ones they leave behind. In the late eighties, Jay met Gwendolyn Williams and through their courtship, they had a son, Anthwon Williams. Jay is survived by one son; Anthwon Williams and grandsons; Ar'mon Williams and Jordan Lynch (all of New York), Sisters; Cecelia Williams, Diana Johnson (Owen), Patti Ann Williams of New Haven. Bellease Bass of New York, Regina Robinson of Manchester, Special cousin/sister; Rose Brazzell of Hamden, Special cousin/brother; Charles Williams of Hamden, Special cousin/brother; Robert Williams of New York. Also his cousin Sundiata Keitazula Mageba. These two was so very close more like brothers, they was always together for five decades strong, their bond, respect, loyalty was like no other, I love you cousin Smooth. Jay is also survived by a host of nephews and grand nephews, nieces and grand nieces great grand nephews and nieces and cousins. Jay loved his niece Charisse Mosley Gallishaw (Dwayne) of New Haven, Janea Lashanda Griffins of Branford and Lavonna Williams. Jay was predeceased by his grandparents Moses and Mary Brown. His parents Charles Alton and Galdyce Lavon Williams. Brothers Charles A. Williams III, Randy Westley Williams and sister Ramona Robinson Cooper. Also predeceased by our kind and loving Uncle and Aunt Amos and Jesse Lee Brown. They help raise my brother Jay and myself (Diana) in our early years. Barney Jay Williams, truly one of a kind. The king of three-card molly, sharp, fast, and on time. Leaving stories and memories that will forever last. Though tears may fall and hearts may ache, Love is something death cannot take. Because the people who touch our lives so deep, Never truly leave — their spirit we keep. So today we say goodbye with love, As Heaven welcomes him above. And while we mourn the loss we feel, His memory will forever heal.
