Arnold Steinback Sr.

Arnold Marvin Steinback Sr., 82, of Middletown, CT beloved husband of Donna (Robinson) Steinback departed this life on Thursday, November 9th at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Bronx, NY, on October 30, 1941, to the late Ernest Steinback Sr. and the late Adelaide Steinback-Howe. He was educated in the New York Public School System in Bronx, NY. After graduation, he started working as a tradesman in roofing and painting. Arnold was employed by Lipper International. He started with the company in New York and relocated in 1982 to their Wallingford, CT distribution center. He worked as a supervisor of Shipping and Receiving and was a dedicated employee for over thirty years. After retiring, he later returned to the company to work part-time, and continued working until 2020. Arnold loved his hometown of New York City. He was a huge fan of the Giants, the Yankees, Spanish food, and Luther Vandross. After relocating to Connecticut, he added UConn to his list of favorite teams. Arnold met his loving wife Donna in Middletown, and the two married in 1996. Throughout their years of marriage, he would never hesitate to brag about his wife’s cooking. One of his favorite meals was her meatloaf. Arnold loved being with family. It didn’t matter if it was Sunday dinner or a holiday feast, he loved it when his family was all together. He enjoyed the laughter, the food, the kids, and the noise. All of it made him smile. His friends became his family. If he knew you, he considered you a friend. He was loyal and dependable. If Arnold was your friend, you were blessed. Many cherished family memories happened in one of his favorite places, Martha’s Vineyard. It was a place of relaxation and family time with his sister/cousin, Judi. Along with his wife, Arnold leaves to cherish his memory; one son, Arnold Steinback Jr. of Ladson, SC, one daughter, Jade Steinback of Middletown, CT; a stepson, Everett Deas of New Britain, CT; four grandchildren, Kelly Robotham, Ryan Robotham, Shaquille Steinback and Courtney Steinback; and one great-granddaughter, Mya Nicolas. Arnold also leaves brother-in-laws: John (Kathy) Robinson and Kenneth Robinson and sister-in-law Phylis (Rev. William) Wilson. He leaves a devoted and trusted friend, Dennis McCoy, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins all of whom he loved deeply. In addition to his parents, Arnold was predeceased by a daughter, Kim Steinback, stepfather, Shellie Howe, three brothers; Sidney Steinback, Leslie Steinback, and Ernest Steinback Jr.; two sisters, Helen Berry and Brenda Underwood, and his father and mother-in-law, John and Martha Robinson. Arnold had a personal relationship with God and was a member of Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Middletown, CT. He had a quiet demeanor and an understated strength. He was a man who said what he meant and he meant what he said! He will be missed dearly.
