Deacon Archie Levern Thomas Sr.

Deac. Archie Leverne Thomas, born on October 9, 1943 to the late, Leverne (Bunn) and Christine Thomas in Sanford (Lee County), NC. He was born and raised in Sanford, NC and attended WB Wicker School in the Lee County School District. Upon leaving North Carolina, he migrated to New Haven, CT in the 1960’s where he married the love of his life, Margaret Bonaparte and to this union they had five wonderful children. He worked as a welder at the CT Steel Plant before becoming a truck driver for 18 years at Blakeslee, Arpaia and Chapman. After retiring from Blakeslee he started his own contracting business called T & Sons Home Improvement working with his sons. After closing the business, Archie retired from the State of CT Department of Transportation after 7 years of employment. His passion was his family and singing gospel Quartet music. Archie was one of the lead singers for the Harmony Kings. He sung with several groups before starting his own with his daughters called Deac. Archie Thomas and The Harmony Angels. Archie was truly a man that loved his family without conditions. Anyone that was blessed to meet him had no other choice but to love him. He was one who did not bite his tongue and told you the truth whether you agreed or not. One thing about him, he kept it real and showed no fakeness what-so-ever!! Archie was truly a genuine man of God. He loved the Lord and made Him his personal Savior. Archie leaves to carry on his legacy, his loving wife of 52 years, Pastor Margaret Thomas; two sons, James (Audrey) Bonaparte-Thomas of Middletown, CT and Kenneth (Tawana) Thomas of Hamden, CT; three daughters, Tawana (Tony) McCormick of Sanford, NC, Betty (Markus) Booker and Carla Thomas of New Haven, CT; twenty-one grands and thirty-one great grands; two special sons, Junior Kennedy and Rondell Atkinson; two brothers, Norman (Maryann) Thomas of Hamden, CT and Raymond Thomas of Sanford, NC; four sisters, Pastor Betty Marks and Deborah McNeill of New Haven, CT; Jean A. Burns and Shirley (James) Cotton of Sanford, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one brother, Theodore Cameron; two sisters, Louise Ebron and Sally Mae Hines; one son, Archie Thomas, Jr. and one grandson, Kenneth Thomas, Jr.
