ALMENIA SNOW JACKSON SUNRISE JUNE 30, 1933 – SUNSET SEPTEMBER 2, 2026 Almenia Snow Jackson 1933 - 2026 Almenia loved, cherished and was very dedicated to her family who always put the needs of others before her own, especially her children. she was very selfless, would give you the shirt off her back and feed the whole neighborhood. Almenia Snow Jackson, 93 of New Haven, CT. was called home by the Lord peacefully on September 2, 2026. She was born in Morrisville, South Carolina on June, 30, 1933 to the late Wallace Snow and Annie Pringle Snow and later the family relocated to Mullins, South Carolina, where she attended Mullins Elementary School. At the tender age of 11 while in the 6th grade, she was pulled out of school by her father, The late Bellamy Snow, Sr. to tend to the home and the fields along with 9 other siblings until she met the love of her life in1950, the late Willie Dave Jackson, very excited to start their lives together. They got married, Almenia, age 18 and Wille 17, in 1950. Almenia gave birth to her first child the late Willena Rosemond Lopes in 1952, at the age of 19. After her birth, Willie took his family and relocated to New Haven CT, where they would take up resident on Winter Street, in 1960 they relocated to Kensington St. She took on several different jobs for a little while, Teds Cleaners, Firestone tires, and Lender’s Bagels, until Willie told her she didn’t have to work. Willie and Almenia Jackson would move to 56 Hazel St. when she gave birth to her last child in 1965, she was mainly a house wife where as my dad was the bread winner, who took care of her and their 8 children, she didn’t have to worry about anything, just the home. She was an excellent cook, she enjoyed playing cards, scratch tickets, crosswords, dancing oh my goodness could she dance. She loved animals, she loved fishing where she taught her children to fish. She enjoyed traveling with her family anytime any place, her favorite words were, “I don’t care where you go, I just want to ride”. Almenia would open her house to anyone in need of a meal and or a place to lay their head. She became the Mother of Hazel Street. Everyone who knew her, called her Ma Jackson. She enjoyed her grands, great grands, great great grands every chance she got rather it was at home , the backyard or the beach, she really enjoy The Light House Park, She Loved the Lord no matter what, she was a member of Lilly of the Valley Church in the early 1960’s - 70’s where she brought her children at very young ages to grow in the Lord. In 2008, Almenia settled at Faith Temple Revival Center in the City of Hamden CT. She was a faithful member for years where she worshiped and praised the Lord, she sang in the Woman of Virtue Choir for several years. She became the Mother of the church in 2011, and her faith never wavered. Every time someone asked her, how she was doing? She would always say “pretty good by the grace of the Lord”. We couldn’t have asked for a better parent because God blessed us with the best who did the very best for her family. We will miss Almenia every day, her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. Almenia was preceded in death by her father and mother the late Bellamy and Annie Pringle Snow, her sisters, Estelle Snow, Etta Ruth Snow, Albertha Snow, Sally Snow, Irabelle Snow, Martha Snow, Jettie Snow, her two brothers Wallace Snow and Bellamy Snow Jr, her Late Husband Willie Dave Jackson, Her Daughters Willena Rosemond Lopes, and Nellie Ann McLaughlin. Her son David Lee Jackson, Her Grand daughter Deyja Jackson, Her Daughter in law Deidre Anderson Jackson, Her Grandson Rasheem Rosemond, her Great granddaughter lil T. She leaves to cherish her memories, her Son Ronald Jackson, daughter-n- law Debra Ross Jackson, Her Daughter Melinda Jackson Walker, son- n- law James Walker, son-n-law Micheal McLaughlin. Her Daughter Laverne Jackson Thomas, Son-n- law Mark Thomas Sr. Her daughter Angelene Whittaker and daughter Willette Carr. A host of Grands, Great Grands, Great Great Grands, Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Almenia’s personality and loving heart brought warmth and joy to everyone she encountered and her passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved her.
