Alfred Williams Sr.

Alfred Williams Sr., affectionately known as “Al”, “Big Stick”, & Brouham” peacefully passed away on December 15, 2025, at Bridgeport Hospital at the age of 83. Alfred was born on August 2, 1942, in Salem, New Jersey. He later moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he spent some time before settling in New Haven, Connecticut, which he proudly called home for the remainder of his life. Alfred honorably served in the United States Military Army before beginning his career at the Stop & Shop Warehouse, where he worked for many years. He was a hardworking man who valued responsibility, loyalty, and providing for his family. Known for his love of cooking, Alfred found joy in gathering with friends and family, sharing laughter, and creating moments that will be cherished forever. Music was close to his heart, and he especially loved listening to Al Green—an artist that often accompanied his warm spirit and easygoing nature. Alfred was preceded in death by his beloved mother Miranda Williams, and his brother, Robert Williams. He was a devoted father to Alfred Williams Jr., Carlton Williams, Alex Brantley, and stepson Warren Freeman. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his brothers, Gary Williams and Buck Medley; his sisters, Alva Williams and Lorraine Williams; his close cousin, Beatrice Morton; and his former wife, Barbara Carrington. He was a proud grandfather to Kierra Monae Williams (lovingly nicknamed “Mouthy,” a name given to her by her grandfather when she was a baby), Carlton Marquise Williams (also known as Marquise), Kedonte Williams, Lenell Freeman, Alexis Brantley, Dion Brantley, and Marlon Brantley. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Carlton Marquise Williams Jr. Alfred also leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends whom he loved deeply. Alfred Williams Sr. will be remembered for his love of family, his laughter, his cooking, his firecracker mouth (his Well-known words) and the music that filled his soul. His legacy of love lives on through all who were blessed to know him. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 13th at 5:00 PM, followed by a service at 6:00 PM, at McClam Funeral Home, 95 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511. Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 14th. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM to proceed to the cemetery in Middletown for a 10:00 AM burial.
