Sharon Williams

Sharon Annette Williams or Bonaee' as she preferred to be called entered into eternal rest on Friday, May, 30, 2014 in Philadelphia, PA. She was born in New Haven, CT on August 2, 1958. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Williams of Philadelphia, PA, father, Samuel Kelly of New Haven, CT, one son, Lopez Williams of Brooklyn New York, three siblings, Pamela Williams of Aldan PA, Stephanie Drummond (Gerald) of Kennesaw, GA, Shawn Williams (Nina) of Philadelphia, PA and a special friend, Jarious L. Parker, Sr. She was predeceased by one sister, Jenene Williams of Clairton, PA. Boney was raised in New Haven at Church Street South by her late paternal grandmother, Claudia "Mama Kelly" and father, Sam "SD" Kelly along with cousins, Terry, Paulette, Dorothy, Cynthia, Curtis, Donny, Anthony, Edward, Harris and Paul. Growing up was filled with fond memories of Jackson 5 impersonations, dance contests, when Mama Kelly got after one for misbehaving - they all got into trouble and who could ever forget Boney insisting she was "Miss Leo the Lion, the biggest Leo of them all". She was a graduate of Richard C. Lee High School where she developed a passion for fashion and the creative arts. After completion of high school, she attended Bauder Fashion College in Atlanta, GA wherein she received a degree in fashion. Following the birth of her only child, Lopez Williams, Boney returned to New Haven where she launched Tomorrow's Entertainment, an organization for area youth and community development. Boney's program encouraged children to practice skills in music, dance and the creative arts. In 1998 Boney relocated to Philadelphia and continued her work with children in the creative arts and community. At the time of her death, she was employed by the Pennsylvania Federation of Teachers. Boney will be most remembered for her vivacious personality. She was a real "live wire" who greeted with a "Howdy How, Howdy Heyyy"! She had a special love for children, family and close friends. She was a proud member of Sokia-Gakkai International, the Buddhist Association of Peace and Culture where she discovered spirituality. In addition to her son, parents, siblings special cousins and special friend, Boney leaves to cherish her loving memory a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
