Darlene Taylor

Our journey in this Earth is created and designed by our Heavenly Father and we create the patchwork of this quilt of life. Today we honor and celebrate the life of Darlene F. Taylor as her last threads are woven. . Darlene F. Taylor, entered this life on December 26, 1946 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was the eldest child born to the union of the late William and Dorothy Taylor, Sr.. She entered her eternal rest on October 12, 2018. She reached the crossroads and her journey was complete. Darlene and her parents relocated to New Haven, CT when she was a young child. She attended schools in the New Haven Public Schools system in her formative years and graduated from James H. Hillhouse High School. She entered into the workforce and began her career in the City of New Haven Public Library as a Li- brarian Clerk. After thirty one years of service, she retired. While in this employ, she was very active with her AFCME Local 884 Union and served in various positions. Her organizational involvement included her membership at Summerfield United Methodist Church where she became a member at an early age. Subsequently, all of her children were baptized in this Church, as well. She sought and gained membership in the Order of the Eastern Star and also joined the Connecticut Small Games Club. Hobbies always included her passion for cooking and catering events. She also enjoyed planning and organizing trips. On another note, Darlene was especially motivated and enjoyed planning family affairs. This enthusiasm spilled over into planning community and job events. She leaves to cherish her memory her five loving and devoted children, Rhonda Taylor, Doris (Ronald Craig) Dumas, Gregory Taylor, Michelle (David) McAdory of Cumming, GA, and Terry Reese; three loving brothers William (Lavon) Taylor, Jr., Venson Taylor Sr., and James Taylor. Twelve special grandchildren, nine precious great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Patricia Taylor-Wilkins, Eddie Taylor and Geneva Melvin. We have comfort in knowing that she walked into the Kingdom greeted by her loving Family.
